Several years ago, after over 30 years in the audio industry, the decision was made to put all our services under one umbrella, under one trade-name. We chose the name Banded Moon Arts and Media, LLC to reflect our founder's long-standing intrigue with the planetary system and Earth's ever-mysterious moon, which can't help but spur one's imagination and creativity.
Banded Moon is owned and operated by Mitch Rosenow, an award-winning audio engineer. Known for his unique technical abilities and high quality standards, he has built a reputation in Kansas City and across the country as one of the most experienced and skilled professionals in the industry.
For over four decades, Mitch has been lending his talents to all sorts of events and creative endeavors. From the beginning, he has been a serious student in all aspects of production, achieving a high degree of expertise in recording and engineering techniques. The keen ear he developed from a background in music, along with his in-depth understanding of the science and technology of audio, have served well in the sports broadcast arena, where he has pioneered many techniques for wiring, miking and mixing sound that have been picked up and incorporated by engineers nationwide.
But it is Mitch’s continued passion for learning, combined with old-school know-how and over 10,000 events under his belt that has garnered him recognition from both peers and industry leaders. Always at the forefront of the latest technologies and methodologies, he has devoted a lifetime to the audio field, continually innovating and creating as the industry changes, all the while, remaining committed to preserving the integrity of the art. A true sonic sculptor, interface and communications specialist, and sound engineer--as well as an accomplished musician--he has mentored many technicians working in the field today.
For the past 25+ years, he has designed and rebuilt mobile television units and production facilities/studios, as well as engineered audio for live sporting and entertainment events across the country. He has also served as EIC (engineer-in-charge) on mobile television units, overseeing most technical aspects of the production.
Mitch is currently the A-1 (head audio engineer) for the Kansas City Royals (home feed) and the University of Kansas TV broadcasts for various fall and winter sports. When you hire Banded Moon, you are hiring Mitch, as he personally services each entity himself.
Mitch is a member of the Audio Engineering Society, International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (freelance Radio/TV Division), the Musicians' Union and Broadcast Music Incorporated. He has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who in America, Who’s Who in the World, and Who’s Who in Engineering. He received a Cable Ace Award for his contribution to Bringin' It All Back Home, a documentary about the music scene in Lawrence, KS, and numerous other awards, including the University Continuing Education Association National Outstanding Program award, for his work as engineer on the DVD Motivating Moves for People with Parkinson's. In 2019, he was awarded the Sarah Nauser Power of Positivity Award for his work at the Kansas City Royals.
